BMW SAV Comparison: X3 vs. X5
When the time comes to purchase a new family vehicle, you’ll likely take many things into consideration to ensure you find the perfect fit. When it comes to our BMW SAV lineup, we have a large variety of luxurious family vehicles to choose from, so that every customer can find something to meet their needs! To help you narrow down your decision, we’ve compared to our most popular SAV models – the BMW X3 and BMW X5 – to help you find the best fit for you!
Seating and Cargo Space
One of the most important factors when picking a new vehicle is deciding how much space you will need. While both the BMW X3 and BMW X5 come standard with five-passenger seating, the BMW X5 gives drivers the option to add an optional third-row to allow room for 7 passengers. For those smaller families that don’t need room for many passengers, the BMW X3 may work best for you. If you have a larger family or plan to expand your family over the next few years, you may want to consider the BMW X5. Cargo space is another important factor when deciding on a family vehicle. In the BMW X3, you will find 28.7 cubic feet of space behind the rear row and 62.7 cubic feet of space behind the first row. Meanwhile, in the BMW X5, you will find 33.9 cubic feet of space behind the rear row and 72.3 cubic feet of space behind the first row.
If power and performance are important factors to you, you’ll likely want to know about the engines offered in the BMW X3 and BMW X5. In the BMW X3, there is a standard 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder engine that offers 248 horsepower. The standard engine on the BMW X5 is a 3.0L turbocharged inline 6-cylinder engine that offers 335 horsepower. An optional 3.0L turbocharged inline 6-cylinder engine is also available with the BMW X3. This engine provides 385 horsepower. The BMW X5 offers two alternative engines – a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 456 horsepower or a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 523 horsepower.
Whether you find yourself choosing the BMW X5 or the BMW X3, you will be impressed with the standard features that these BMW SAVs offer. Both of these models come standard with Bluetooth® connectivity, voice-activated navigation, parking assist, and leatherette-trimmed seats. In addition to these features, you’ll find a standard 12-speaker audio system in the BMW X3, compared to 10 speakers in the BMW X5. In the BMW X5, you’ll find that heated front seats are standard, while you will have to pay extra for this in the BMW X3.
