2022 BMW X3 and Amazon Alexa: What You Need to Know
More and more cars are starting to feature Amazon Alexa compatibility. This makes it more efficient to control infotainment systems using voice commands, thereby minimizing distractions behind the wheel. Here are some updates we know so far regarding the upcoming 2022 BMW X3 and its compatibility with Amazon Alexa.
Amazon Alexa Availability
Amazon Alexa is built into the BMW X3 and responds to over 100,000 voice commands. With this, you can acquire information in real-time while in mid-commute. This includes asking Alexa about the weather, traffic conditions, or even adding items to your grocery list.
How to Activate Amazona Alexa
Begin by connecting your mobile device to your vehicle and installing the BMW Connected app. From there, go to Amazon Alexa from the menu and tap the “Connect with Amazon” icon at the bottom of the screen. From there, you’ll be prompted to log into your Amazon account. We also recommend allowing the app to pinpoint your location for better connectivity.
Once updates are made, the Amazon Alexa icon will appear on your car’s infotainment touchscreen. To use voice commands, simply press the voice button on your steering wheel and provide a voice command, such as “Alexa, what’s the weather forecast?”
Using Voice Commands for Car Control Features
You’ll be able to use Amazon Alexa to control certain car features. For example, you can ask Alexa to:
- Lock/unlock the door or confirm that it’s locked
- Confirm if the windows and trunk are closed
- Flash the lights
- Honk the horn
